Hi friends!

A big hello and welcome from your new LWB McGill Student Chapter executive: President Robyn Maler, Communications Coordinator Caitlin Bakker, Treasurer Elizabeth Schneider, and Events Coordinator Ryan Nelson! Librarians Without Borders parent group Co-Executive Director, Melanie Sellar, also extends her greetings to LWB McGill members.

LWB McGill has begun the 2010-2011 with a bang, and we’re gearing up for many fantastic events and activities, including guest speakers, fundraising events, and trips, including a return trip to the library at Miguel Angel Asturias Academy in Xela. Stay tuned for more news!

Our first event, co-organized with the Special Library Association McGill Student Group, is a bona fide Manitoba Social this Thursday, Sept. 23rd at 8pm at the lovely Sala Rossa! Check out the poster below:

All the details can be found on the facebook event page! Tickets can be purchased by getting in touch with myself or Bri Selman or Nathan Guillotte of SLA McGill. 50% of ticket sales will go directly to LWB McGill, benefiting libraries in need in Guatemala and other charitable library development projects both locally and internationally.

It’s a worthy cause AND a cause for celebration — so I hope to see you there!

Robyn Maler, LWB McGill Student Chapter President

(Psst … if you’re interested in getting involved or hearing about our events and activities, email to get on our mailing list and join the facebook group!)
