Wednesday April 21

Arrive in Guatemala City Airport and head to Antigua.  Spend the night in Antigua.

Thursday April 22

Climb Volcan Pacaya.

Friday April 23

Visit Lake Atitlan.

Saturday April 24 – Sunday April 25

Visit to Comunidad “Nueva Alianza”.  Activities will include: tour of fair-trade coffee & macadamia finca, a community history talk, hike and tour of community projects.
Travel to Quetzaltenango.

Monday April 26

Orientation tour of the Miguel Angel Asturias Academy, participation in recess games.
Library volunteer session #1.
Walking tour of Minerva Neighborhood and visit the Ixkik Museum of Traditional Mayan Clothing.

Tuesday April 27

Learn more about the history of the Asturias Academy.
Library volunteer session #2.
“Taste of Guatemala” – learning more about traditional foods.
Library volunteer session #3.

Wednesday April 28

Library volunteer session #4.
Recess games.
Library volunteer session #5.
Head to Salcaja to visit with a family that does traditional weaving.  Visit to the oldest church in Central America, a “Caldo de Frutas” factory & Cruz del Milagro.

Thursday April 29

Library volunteer session #6
Recess games.
Library volunteer session #7.
Head to “Fuentes Georginas” hot springs.

Friday April 30

Library volunteer session #8.
Recess games
Library volunteer session #9.
Head to “El Baul” mountain for a short hike and lunch.
Food preparation for dinner.
Community dinner.

Saturday May 1

Spend the day at Totonicapan eco-park.
Travel to Guatemala City.

Sunday May 2

Head to Guatemala City Airport and fly to Montreal.
